Independent Living requires a variety of skills, and may take place in a variety of settings. Your abilities and your requirements to live as independently as possible in the community are as unique as you are, with the same responsibilities as a person who does not have a disability.
Living independently in the community does not necessarily mean that you are able to complete all of your activities of daily living yourself; it may include the ability to advocate and communicate effectively with family, friends, businesses and agency personnel as well as the responsibility to organize, coordinate and supervise your personal assistant services if necessary.
We have listed a variety of independent living modules and links, and we hope that you will find the information useful in your quest for independent living.
